GARETH DONKIN OUT HERE
Gareth Donkin’s sound sits in that sweet spot where classic soul discipline meets a modern, self-produced looseness. 'Out Here' is feel-good music in the truest sense. Rooted in his signature approach, the track leans into ’70s and ’80s soul traditions while letting modern polish keep things fresh. Soft synths and electric guitars glide over a steady, buoyant groove. As with much of Gareth Donkin’s work, restraint is key. The production is warm and uncluttered, leaving space for the melody to settle and the emotion to land naturally. The visual mirrors that energy perfectly. Shot with an ’80s camcorder aesthetic, the video bursts with bright colours and a playful, sitcom-like charm. Donkin at the beach building sandcastles (which literally bop along to the chorus) adds a surreal, joyful touch that reinforces the song’s lightness. It feels deliberately uncomplicated, letting joy be the point. 'Out Here' is Gareth Donkin doing what he does best: crafting soul-rooted, melodic R&B that feels lived-in, emotionally precise, and easy to return to. With an upcoming album on the way, the track feels like a statement of intent -Rachel Fryer
